Requirement from marine fishery bureau that the quality for ocean shrimp requires the smbs sulfur dioxide SO2 residue in shrimp be less than 100 mg/kg. There are two correct methods to control the residue above this standard. Use of sodium pyrosulfite smbs (commonly known as shrimp powder) which may cause acute food poisoning if MSBS is over consumption.

1, Spraying method: smbs shrimp powder shall meet the requirements of GB 1893, must use food grade sodium metabisulfite smbs, industrial grade is prohibited; Sea shrimp are weighed and packed into plastic fish tanks; 5% prawn powder solution prepared with clean seawater or drinking water; The proportion of shrimp powder solution usage to the weight of sea shrimp rate is 1:10; Spray the smbs sodium pyrosulfite solution evenly on the surface of the seawater shrimp in the tank with a spray bottle or sprinkler.

2, Method of impregnation: pour 1.5 kg of shrimp powder (smbs metabisulfite) into 100 kg clean seawater or drinking water in the impregnation barrel, and prepare 1.5% of shrimp powder solution; Stir for 5 to 10 seconds to dissolve the mixture. Wash and drain a basket of 25kg to 30kg of sea shrimps into the solution of shrimp powder. Gently shake them up and down to ensure that the shrimps are fully submerged and in contact with the solution. Take out after about 2 minutes. Lift the prawns basket, drain the solution and repeat for 15 baskets, then add 1.5 kg of prawns powder and add clean seawater or drinking water to 100 kg. The prawn powder solution should be prepared again after 15 baskets of circular immersion.
