The main applications of PBT are:
1. Automotive industry
In the field of automotive manufacturing, modified PBT is mainly used in areas such as automotive wiper brackets, automotive headlight trim rings, automotive transmission gear boxes, windshield top pillars, motor housings, etc.
2. Electronic appliances
The connector is a bridge between signals and an indispensable component for transmitting electronic signals and power connections. Electronic connectors or connector products are mainly made of (15-30%) glass fiber reinforced PBT materials. PBT is widely used due to its mechanical properties, solvent resistance, formability, and low price.
The second largest use of PBT in electronic products is as a heat dissipation fan. The heat dissipation fan is placed inside the machine for a long time to help dissipate heat. It requires heat resistance, flame retardancy, insulation, and mechanical strength for plastic properties. PBT is usually modified with 30% glass fiber and used as the outer frame and fan blades of the heat dissipation fan.
3. Electrical industry
The third use of PBT is as a material for transformers, relay spools, and casings, which generally requires good insulation, heat resistance, high flame retardancy, high flowability, strength, and toughness.
4. Other uses
Other uses of PBT material include using PBT material with 15% glass fiber as the base and shell of energy-saving lamps, using PBT/PC alloy as the sole of skates, and even sockets, switches, tuner shells, vacuum cleaner components, electric fans, hair dryer shells, fiber optic connectors, etc.

Introduction to PBT: Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), also known as polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) in English, belongs to the polyester series. It is a crystalline thermoplastic polyester resin made by polycondensation of 1.4-Butylene glycol with terephthalic acid (PTA) or terephthalate , and is mixed through a mixing program to produce milky white translucent to opaque. Together with PET, it is collectively referred to as thermoplastic polyester or saturated polyester. Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) is a semi crystalline polymer with strong chemical resistance combined with excellent mechanical and electrical properties. Polybutylene terephthalate is a semi crystalline engineering grade thermoplastic that is part of the polyester resin series. It provides innovative solutions, saves weight and reduces costs, and provides rapid crystallization. PBT provides excellent electrical and mechanical properties, including high strength, stiffness, toughness, and chemical resistance, a wide range of chemicals, solvents, lubricants, and greases. Polybutylene terephthalate has excellent dimensional stability, low moisture absorption, and strong insulation resistance. Non filled PBT grades have a wide range of melt viscosities, providing injection molding and extrusion technologies for the production and processing of PBT fiber melt blown PBT rods and plates, fiber buffer tubes, or brake cable pads. The application of enhanced PBT brand includes automotive ignition and electrical system components, electrical and electronic connectors and sockets, switches, spools, and motor casings and insulation; The shell of household appliances, processed and base flame-retardant PBT and lubricated PBT versions are also reinforced.
Advantages of PBT:
1. Stable mechanical properties, similar tensile strength and modulus to nylon.
2. Low friction coefficient and self wetting properties.
3. Low water absorption.

5. Good dimensional stability.
6. Excellent drug resistance, oil resistance, solvent resistance, and no stress cracking;
7. Regarding water stability. PBT is not easily decomposed when exposed to water (caution should be exercised when used in high temperature and humidity environments)
a. Mechanical properties: high strength, fatigue resistance, dimensional stability, and small creep (with little change under high temperature conditions);
b. Heat aging resistance: The enhanced UL temperature index reaches 120~140 ℃ (outdoor long-term aging resistance is also good);
c. Solvent resistance: no stress cracking;
d. Water stability: PBT is not easily decomposed when exposed to water;
e. Electrical performance:
1. Insulation performance: Excellent (able to maintain electricity even in damp and high temperatures, making it an ideal material for manufacturing electronic and electrical components);
2. Dielectric coefficient: 3.0-3.2;
3. Arc resistance: 120s
f. Molding processability: ordinary equipment injection molding or extrusion molding. Due to its fast crystallization speed, good fluidity, and lower mold temperature requirements compared to other engineering plastics. When processing thin-walled parts, it only takes a few seconds, and for large components, it only takes 40-60 seconds.
a. Electronic appliances: connectors, switch parts, household appliances, accessory parts, small electric covers or (heat resistance, flame retardancy, electrical insulation, forming and processing properties);
1. External components: mainly including corner grille, engine heat release hole cover, etc;
2. Internal components: mainly including endoscopic braces, wiper brackets, and control system valves;
3. Automotive electrical components: automotive ignition coil twisted tubes and various electrical connectors, etc.
(The number of PBTs used in automobiles is not as high as that of nylon, polycarbonate, and paraformaldehyde, but with the emergence of low warpage PBTs, they will inevitably be more applied in automotive components in the future.)
