1. Advantages

2. Application
Calcium Carbonate is an acid soluble additive used for bridging and weighting agent for a controlling fluid loss and density. As a bridging agent and fluid loss-additive, normal concentrations are in the 10 to 50lb/bbl range (29 to 143 kg/m3).

Calcium Carbonate can also be added on a periodic basis for seepage control to limit losses (lost circulation and leak-off) to high permeability formations.It is particularly effective when drilling with high differential pressures caused by an overbalanced condition or when drilling depleted zones. Treatments range from 2 to 10 sacks per hour when used a preventative measure.

For depleted zone drilling or induced fracture applications, Calcium Carbonate is most effective when used in combination with Graphite additive.

Heavy calcium carbonate

Light calcium carbonate
Light calcium carbonate (commonly known as light calcium carbonate), also known as precipitated calcium carbonate, is obtained by calcining raw materials such as limestone to produce lime (mainly composed of calcium oxide) and carbon dioxide, then adding water to digest the lime to produce lime milk (mainly composed of calcium hydroxide), and then adding carbon dioxide to carbonize the lime milk to generate calcium carbonate precipitate. Finally, it is obtained through dehydration, drying, and crushing. Alternatively, sodium carbonate and calcium chloride can be used for double decomposition reaction to generate calcium carbonate precipitate, which is then dehydrated, dried, and crushed to obtain. Colloidal calcium carbonate, also known as activated calcium carbonate, modified calcium carbonate, surface treated calcium carbonate, colloidal calcium carbonate, or white brilliant, is prepared by surface modification of light or heavy calcium carbonate with surface modifiers. Due to the fact that calcium carbonate modified by surface modifiers generally has a reinforcing effect, known as "activity", it is customary to refer to modified calcium carbonate as active calcium carbonate.
Property: Colloidal calcium carbonate is an extremely fine white powder, odorless and tasteless, with particles resembling spheres and a particle size below 0.1um. Due to the adsorption of a layer of fat soap on the surface of the particles, it has colloidal activation performance and is an excellent white reinforcing filler. Soluble in water, decomposes when exposed to acid, turns into a burnt black color upon ignition, releases carbon dioxide, and generates calcium oxide. The specific gravity ranges from 1.99 to 2.01. Crystalline calcium carbonate
Calcium hydroxide reacts with hydrochloric acid to generate calcium chloride, which is decolorized and impurities removed by activated carbon. Calcium chloride is carbonated with carbon dioxide in the presence of ammonia to obtain calcium carbonate, which is then crystallized, separated, washed, dehydrated, dried, and screened.
