The pressure sensitive adhesive and hot melt adhesive prepared are widely used in medical, electrical insulation, packaging, protective masking, labeling, adhesive fixation and other fields, especially in the production of hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive (HMPSA), which has the characteristics of solvent free, pollution-free, low energy consumption, simple equipment, and wide adhesive range, It is highly welcomed by users and has developed rapidly in recent years.
SIS resin is a special polymer resin that is formed by copolymerization of acrylic acid and isobutyric acid. It has excellent water resistance and can be used in water; Good aging resistance; Has excellent impact resistance and flexibility; The characteristics of low temperature resistance, oil resistance, wear resistance, non-toxic, odorless, and not easily deformed. SIS resin is commonly used to manufacture various rubber products and various plastic products, such as rubber cement boards, cement floors, rubber swimsuits, rubber shower caps, and other rubber products. In addition, it is widely used in the production and processing of sealing media in the aerospace industry.

Mainly used as hot melt adhesive and pressure sensitive adhesive, used in medical, electrical insulation, packaging, protection and masking, marking, adhesive fixation, and interlayer bonding of composite bags.

It has good elasticity and bonding strength, low temperature resistance, good solubility, low solution viscosity, good flowability, and fast curing.
SIS belongs to the category of styrene thermoplastic elastomers. The difference between wired structure (SIS) and star structure (SI) nR) is that the morphological structure of star type (SI) nR is more regular than that of linear SIS. The average molecular weights of SIS and (SI) nR are 150000 to 300000 and 150000 to 400000, respectively. Similar to SBS, it also shows two glass transition temperatures. Polyisoprene block (I) Tg1 and polystyrene block Tg2, for SIS, Tg1=-45 ℃, Tg2=111 ℃; For (SI) nR, Tg1=-51 ℃, Tg2=113 ℃. The adhesive properties of (SI) nR, such as initial adhesion, holding adhesion, and peel strength, are superior to linear SIS. The melt viscosity of SIS is lower than that of SBS. When aging is caused by high temperature or oxidation, SIS chain breakage is the main cause. It becomes soft and sticky, the cohesive strength decreases, the melt viscosity decreases, and the SBS cross-linking is the main action. It becomes hard, the cohesive strength decreases, the viscosity increases, and the gel. The other performance of SIS is basically similar to that of SBS.
The preparation of SIS is carried out in a cyclohexane solvent using an alkyl lithium initiator, which involves three steps of initiation of styrene, isoprene, and styrene, followed by anionic polymerization to obtain linear SIS. The star shaped SIS is formed by coupling the styrene and isoprene block copolymers generated in the first two steps with silicon tetrachloride oil as the coupling agent. The product is prepared through condensation, solvent removal, extrusion, dehydration, and granulation.
The main purpose of SIS is to use SIS as the main material for hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, coatings, solvent based adhesives, plastic modified products, caulking materials, etc. When SIS is used for hot melt pressure sensitive adhesives, its downstream products such as packaging tapes, women's sanitary napkins, double-sided tape, and oil resistant labels have better performance.
