SEBS is actually a form of thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) with styrene added. Green Peace lists SEBS as an acceptable alternative to PVC in toys. Polyolefin plastics such as Polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP) are the most common building blocks for SEBS, which don't need plasticizers (like phthalates) or stabilizers (like lead) for flexibility.

SEBS is used in a wide variety of general-purpose rubber items as well as in handlebar grips, toothbrushes, sports mouth guards, diapers (as the elastic component) and teethers. The chemical resistance of SEBS is similar to natural rubber, having excellent resistance to water, acids, and bases.

Another effect of improved compatibility with PP is a broadening of the glass transition temperature (Tg) below room temperature. SEBS is a linear triblock copolymer of polyethylene as terminal segment and Ethylene butene copolymer obtained by hydrogenation of polybutadiene as elastic block in the middle. Its full name is Styrene Ethylene Butylene Styrene , or SEBS for short.

1.SEBS has good uv stability, antioxidant and thermal stability, so it can also be used in roofing and asphalt for road repair.
2.SEBS is soluble in paraffin wax and can be used as a flexible surface coating on paper products.
3.SEBS is temperature insensitive when heated without obvious shear flow, so it can be used as a template for IPN. (The basic principle of IPN is that two insoluble polymers can achieve the interpenetration of the entangled chain segments, so that the two insoluble polymers can be "locked" together by covalent crosslinking.)
4. Organic solution of SEBS oil blend can replace natural latex to manufacture surgical gloves and other products. Because SEBS does not contain unsaturated double bonds and has high purity, it has the following two advantages :
